Big Red Pet is now Bigger Red Pet

Just how big is a ‘Big Red Pet’? Well, when he’s a Devilsaur to start with — pretty damn big. (Imagine having this guy dash towards you in PVP…)

I’ve been using a wolf since I was level 10: First one from Dun Morogh, and later one I picked up in Borean Tundra. I used a Gorilla exclusively from the first one I could get — level 38, in STV — up until I hit 72, at which point I changed back and forth between a wolf and gorilla for questing vs. instances.

However, after recently seeing how pretty the Ironhide Devilsaur skin is, I re-checked the spreadsheeet… and found out that counter to previous consultations, a Devilsaur is not a DPS loss for me, but is actually a DPS gain, in theory. (Pike touched briefly on this a while back, which may have actually been what caused me to check.) Woohoo! So I headed out to Netherstorm, and picked up a pretty T-Rex, and now I’m slowly leveling him while not raiding.

It also let me use EpicAdvice to ask another question:

How should I level a Ferocity pet? I’ve already gotten one answer, but would love to have more from anyone with other ideas on leveling a pet. (I’m sort of burned out on heroics at the moment; ran too many with the priest this weekend.) For those of you who don’t know, Epic Advice is a nifty website for reputation-based question/answer threads: everything from How best to farm Eternal Earth to a host of hunter questions. I’ve been contributing a fair amount, and have found it to be a pretty cool resource for most questions, with a lot of experienced and knowledgeable players contributing their information.
